Studio Session
BEGINNER PACKAGE: 4 Tuesday Sewing Sessions in November - From Your First Stitch to Your Own Project
Four Tuesdays. One course. Your pace. Your projects.
The Beginner Package is for you if you want to learn how to sew but would like more time than a single workshop can offer.
You do not need any previous sewing experience.
We meet every Tuesday in November:
- 3 November
- 10 November
- 17 November
- 24 November
We start completely from scratch and build your skills step by step.
THE FIRST SESSION
The first workshop is all about getting to know the sewing machine and becoming comfortable using it.
We will cover:
- How the sewing machine works
- Threading the machine and winding a bobbin
- Stitch settings
- Controlling the speed
- Sewing straight lines and curves
- Seam allowances and pressing
- Essential beginner sewing techniques
You will have plenty of time to experiment and get comfortable with the machine without having to keep up with anyone else.
THE FOLLOWING THREE SESSIONS
Once you have learned the basics, we will talk about what you would like to learn and make.
Maybe you dream of sewing your first garment.
Maybe you would like to make a bag, a pair of shorts, a simple blouse or something completely different.
Together, we will find a project and level that suits you and the skills you would like to develop.
The following three workshops will therefore be a combination of teaching, individual guidance and time to work on your own projects.
You do not need to finish a project during one session. The whole point of the package is to give you time to understand the process and continue working from one Tuesday to the next.
YOU JUST NEED TO SHOW UP
I provide:
- Sewing machines
- Materials
- Thread
- Sewing tools
- Irons and other necessary equipment
- Coffee and tea
You simply need to show up and be ready to learn.
YOUR PROJECTS NEED TO COME HOME WITH YOU
There is no possibility of storing unfinished projects between workshops.
If you are working on a project over several sessions, you will need to take it home after each workshop and bring it back with you the following Tuesday.
SMALL GROUPS
There are only four people in each group, which means there is plenty of time for questions, individual help and working at your own pace.
You do not have to work on the same project as everyone else.
This is not about sewing as quickly as possible.
It is about learning the craft, understanding the process and discovering how much you can actually make yourself.
